IPG Photonics to Showcase Innovative Laser Technologies, Live Demos at FABTECH 2024

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., October 9, 2024 — IPG Photonics Corporation (NASDAQ: IPGP), the global leader in fiber laser solutions, is excited to announce its participation in FABTECH 2024, North America's largest metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing event. The show will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL, from October 15-17, 2024. Visit IPG at Booth W3628 to explore the latest laser innovations and live demonstrations designed to transform your production processes.

Hands-On LightWELD® Handheld Laser Welding Demos
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience laser welding firsthand, thanks to the live demonstrations IPG will be providing during FABTECH inside of an on-site laser-safe enclosure.
The use of handheld laser welding is rapidly expanding across numerous industries. LightWELD laser welding is user-friendly, delivers high-quality welds quickly and efficiently, and reduces the need for post-weld finishing. Additionally, LightWELD offers pre- and post-weld cleaning functions that save time and further improve the overall weld quality.

Easy Automation with the NEW LightWELD Cobot System
IPG will feature a new laser welding cobot system powered by LightWELD technology. Aimed to boost productivity, improve consistency, and support human welders, welding cobots are becoming a popular investment for fabricators and manufacturers.
At the company’s booth, there will be two LightWELD cobot systems and two different demos. One system will offer hands-on sessions to showcase how easy it is to program, while the other, housed in a built-in safety enclosure, will perform live demonstrations of laser welding on various materials and thicknesses.

High-Speed Laser Cutting with Machine Vision Alignment
The company will also highlight the LaserCube Flatbed Laser Cutting System. Specifically designed for sheet metal cutting, LaserCube delivers outstanding speed and precision. A live demo will showcase its ability to cut reflective metals and feature its unique vision alignment system, which compensates for material inconsistencies to ensure precise and consistent cut placement.

LaserCell 2000: A New High-Speed Laser Cleaning Solution
IPG will introduce the LaserCell 2000, a new turnkey laser surface processing system. Built on the company’s reliable LaserCell platform, this system offers a streamlined single-robot configuration, delivering high processing speeds in a more compact and cost-efficient design.
Attendees at FABTECH will have the chance to see the LaserCell 2000 in action through live demos, showcasing laser surface processing tasks such as oil cleaning, rust removal, and paint stripping.

High-Speed Laser Curing for Powder-Coated Parts
IPG will showcase high-speed laser curing of freshly powder-coated parts. Laser heating, which utilizes projection optics to cover a wide area with laser light, is an eco-friendly solution that provides significantly greater energy efficiency, faster drying and curing times, and enhanced process control compared to traditional methods like convection ovens and infrared lamps.
During the demo, the company will spray a sample with powder coat and cure it in under two minutes, highlighting the speed of laser heating technology.

Solutions for E-Mobility Manufacturing
The company will show innovative solutions for e-mobility manufacturing, including LDD real-time laser weld measurement and AMB dual-beam laser welding technology.
LDD directly measures every weld as it is made for unmatched quality assurance that eliminates time-consuming post process steps. AMB lasers enable high-speed, porosity and spatter-free welding to meet demanding EV and battery manufacturing requirements.

Seamless Laser Scanning Integration with the Integration Control Center
IPG will demonstrate how its Integration Control Center simplifies the connection between IPG scanners, lasers, and industrial equipment to provide faster deployment of laser scanning solutions. The flexible system makes it easier to integrate and control essential laser processes.
