IPG Photonics to Showcase Innovative Laser Technologies, Live Demos at IMTS 2024

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., September 5, 2024 — IPG Photonics Corporation (NASDAQ: IPGP), the global leader in fiber lasers, will showcase innovative laser solutions with live demonstrations at IMTS 2024, held at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL, from September 9-14, 2024. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the company’s technology and its benefits for various applications in Booth 135030.

Try It for Yourself: LightWELD® Handheld Laser Welding

IPG will be offering live hands-on system demonstrations for attendees at IMTS at their on-site laser-safe trailer where visitors will be able to try laser welding first-hand.

Handheld laser welding continues to experience widespread adoption across a wide variety of industries. LightWELD laser welding is easy to learn, produces excellent quality welds quickly and efficiently, and minimizes post-weld finishing work. LightWELD also features pre- and post-weld cleaning capabilities that save welders time and further enhance weld quality.

Hands-On Learning with the NEW LightWELD Cobot System

IPG will also be showcasing a new laser welding cobot system powered by LightWELD laser welding technology. Welding cobots are an increasingly common investment for fabricators and manufacturers looking to maximize productivity, increase consistency, and assist human welders.

The company’s booth will feature two LightWELD cobot systems and two separate demos. One system will be used to demonstrate the ease of programming the system with hands-on sessions. The other system, integrated with a built-in safety enclosure, will demonstrate the capabilities of the system with live laser welding of various materials and thicknesses.

Introducing a New High-Speed Laser Cleaning Solution

IPG will introduce the LaserCell 2000, a brand-new turnkey laser surface processing system. Based on the company’s proven LaserCell platform, this system features a simplified single robot configuration that provides high processing speeds in a more compact and cost-effective package.

Visitors at IMTS will have the opportunity to witness the LaserCell 2000 in action during several live demos which will showcase laser surface processing tasks like cleaning oil, removing rust, and stripping paint.

High-Speed Laser Cutting with Machine Vision Alignment

The company’s booth will also feature a LaserCube Flatbed Laser Cutting System. Designed primarily for cutting sheet metal, the LaserCube offers exceptional speed and cutting accuracy. A live demonstration will showcase the system’s reflective metal cutting capabilities as well as a unique vision alignment system that accounts for inconsistencies in incoming material to deliver consistent cut placement.

Rapid Powder Coat Curing in Minutes with Laser Heating

IPG will demonstrate high-speed laser curing of freshly powder-coated parts. Laser heating, which uses projection optics to target a wide area with laser light, is a sustainable solution that offers significantly higher energy efficiency, faster drying and curing speeds, and more process control than legacy technologies like convection ovens and infrared lamps.

IPG’s laser heating demo will feature a sample that is first sprayed with powder coat and then cured in less than two minutes.
